
Taylor Putz

Taylor Putz is the Chief Communications and Operating Officer at Groundwork Legal, where he leads communications strategy and organizational operations. He brings nearly two decades of experience advancing internal and external growth through nonprofit and public sector leadership.
Most recently, Taylor served as Chief of Staff and Communications Director at the Minnesota Department of Human Rights. He led the communications strategy around high-profile civil rights cases, including the consent decree to transform the Minneapolis Police Department. As part of the leadership team, Taylor helped evolve the department into an effective and efficient civil rights enforcement agency for the people of Minnesota.
Earlier in his career, Taylor represented the nonprofit sector before the Minnesota legislature at the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits and led the statewide outreach campaign at Prepare + Prosper focused on promoting the Earned Income Tax Credit and free tax preparation. He began his career at the Progressive Change Campaign Committee in Washington D.C., working on a national advocacy campaign to expand Social Security.
Taylor received his master’s degree in nonprofit management from Hamline University and a bachelor’s degree in international studies from Marian University.
