Dolores “Laney” Ohmans

I’m a nonprofit communications and development professional with ten years of experience in the field. Currently, I’m the Annual Giving Manager for the National Network of Abortion Funds (look us up!). I’m a low-key finance nerd and a high-key advocate for economic justice and mutual aid. I live with my wife and two terrible dogs in South Minneapolis and spend my free time reading advice columns, painting leather jackets and accessories, and reading post-apocalyptic fiction.
I became aware of Exodus’ work in 2016, through friends. When I saw the post in search of board members, I leapt at the chance. Exodus’ approach to caring for community members and helping folks break free from predatory lending inspires me, and the commitment of other board members amps me up. I love our mission and work, and really feel like we are disrupting the business model of payday lenders (at least on a small scale) as we dream of radical, positive alternatives!
Who is one person who inspires you and why?
Sara Nelson-Pallmeyer! The hardest working woman in the nonprofit scene, and a fundraiser who makes dollars fall from the sky. Also (sorry, not sorry for corniness) my mom – a genius whose ability to get s**t done is absolutely unparalleled, and one of the few people I know who is capable of both having the big idea and making it happen.
